This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the CareCircle mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
CareCircle is a personal health organization and family coordination tool. We are not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse. We are not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Health information you enter into CareCircle is personal health information you choose to record for your own organizational and caregiving purposes — similar to keeping a personal health journal. This information is not subject to HIPAA protections, and you should not use CareCircle as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information When you create a CareCircle account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you subscribe to Premium, payment is processed by Apple's App Store — we never see or store your payment card details.
Care Profile Information Information you voluntarily enter about your loved one, including: name, date of birth, medical conditions and diagnoses, medications and dosages, allergies, symptoms, health metrics (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight), doctor and specialist contact information, and medical documents you choose to upload.
Usage Information We collect information about how you use the app, including features accessed, actions taken, and session duration. This helps us improve the Service.
Device Information We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and crash reports to maintain and improve app performance.
Communications If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the CareCircle Service - Power AI-assisted features, including the Health Q&A assistant and medical document explainer, using the health profile information you have entered - Send push notifications and medication reminders you have configured - Enable family care circle sharing between members you have invited - Generate PDF reports (Emergency Info Card, Doctor Reports) at your request - Respond to your support requests and communications - Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service - Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your health information for advertising purposes. We do not build advertising profiles from your data. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Family Care Circle Members Health information you enter is shared with other members of your care circle — people you have explicitly invited. You control who is in your circle.
Service Providers We work with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service, including cloud infrastructure providers and AI model providers. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.
AI Processing To power AI features such as the Health Q&A and document explainer, health profile information is transmitted to AI model providers. This transmission is encrypted. We use reputable providers and require them to maintain appropriate security standards.
Legal Requirements We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud.
Business Transfers If Sharp Edge Ventures LLC is acquired, merges with another company, or transfers substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
We retain your account information and care profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Access: You can access and export your data at any time within the app.
Correction: You can update or correct your information at any time within the app.
Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing hello@care-circle.health. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Push Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time through your iPhone's Settings.
California Residents (CCPA): If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. CareCircle is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at hello@care-circle.health and we will delete it promptly.
CareCircle may be used by caregivers to track health information for family members of any age, including minor children with chronic conditions. In this case, the caregiver — an adult — is the account holder and is responsible for the information entered.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services, such as doctor portal links you store in the app. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, for significant changes, by sending a notification through the app or by email.
Your continued use of CareCircle after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
